I love the random screenshots they picked to promote the broadcast. OUT OF ALL THE CHOICES THEY HAD THIS IS WHAT THEY GO WITH This twitter understands their fanbase
For my overall thoughts on the episode. I think the pacing was better. I admitted in another plurk that after a second (and third... maybe 4th) rewatching of the first episode I didn't think the pacing was as fast as it first felt. As I tried to do a better job of putting my expectations aside. Which I want to say I'm doing a decent job at for the most part
but having such a love of the original and the manga there are times where it's hard because my brain is just hardwired to be like: No, don't do this already - what will you do later for the surprise??? And having to remind myself that the point is for NEW surprises which I am excited for
So I'm not sure if the pacing this episode also feels better because I've had an episode to remind myself that I need to check my expectations or if it's just better because most 1 episodes are a bit packed to try to introduce so much.
another episode with wonderful leggie action. That's how we can tell the two animes apart. It's not animated and CGI it's the orginal and the leggie one
There is one shot towards the end I really appreciated the shot composition of as you have Vash standing on the rule of 3rds line, you can see one of the moons in the background, and then you have the group that had been trying to shoot him on the other side before it then cuts to them huddled feeling bad about shooting at Vash
I love the work on the backgrounds Orange has done. During the action they're usually pretty clear and just blue - which is fine. You want your eye drawn to the action, but there are so many times I look and I see they stuck a moon in the sky and I love it. I love the reminder that we're not on a version of Earth
If I'm being open and honest - there were a few times where I didn't like the CGI all that much, but that is still just more a me thing and those moments are still so very small. I am constantly blown away by how good this looks and moves
And this is not Roberto hate. If I didn't know about Wolfwood and Milly I'd probably love him, but I do keep looking at him and wondering how Wolfwood is going to end up fitting in this new dynamic. Because he's a lot like a older drunker Wolfwood who doesn't have as many manic comedic moments that can keep up with Vash
Not that I would want Wolfwood in the series this early to be manic comedic along with Vash. You need time for Vash's character to settle into your brain first then you need the juxtaposition of someone like Wolfwood who can keep up with the idealistic hero with an opposing/more realistic world view because it helps
upset the static quo that the hero has been putting out that maybe his way is the truth then Wolfwood shows up with his big ass cross and is all: Naw, bro.
Anyway, I really needed to start my weekly family skype call like... 30 minutes ago so that's all my thoughts for now. I'll probably come back to gush and rant later
ALso - I really love that after the end credits we're getting a still of a different piece of concept art. PLEASE RELEASE AN ART BOOK OF IT ALL YOU HAVE MY MONEY SO VERY FAST
Plus Nu and I might finally have our answer. We have been wondering if they'll kill Roberto to replace with Milly ever since we saw he had a red thing on his back and everyone else had blue. So will this be a last second Vash save or is this a status quo shake up? I HAVE NO IDEA BECAUSE THIS IS NEW AND IT IS EXCITING
(Maybe I kind of understand the Maximum fans being sad we don't have a "true" manga animation experience but this is still good so I still say be disappointed but happy we're getting something as good as this)
like how I stop watching Marvel trailers after the first one. I found the later trailers kept spoilering the best bits of their own movies for me. So I stopped watching Marvel trailers after the first which sucks because I actually really love watching trailers
And what they release is usually full scenes. These last two were fine as I could have predicted how those two moments were going to play out and getting to get a taste of the fun action before hand was fun
This time.... through. I don't think I want to see anything with Knives until the actual episode. Although the sneak peek will probably be about EG Mine
time to rook
I KNOW RIGHT?! I'm stuck between wanting more fun action that is just goofy fun and Knives getting here NOW. I CANNOT HAVE BOTH AT THE SAME TIME, BUT I WANT BOTH AT THE SAME TIME
I still remember the exact scene too where I realized where their eyes were. I don't know why out of all my memories this is one that has stuck BUT HERE WE ARE.
It was this one right here
Just little baby ZZ going: HOLY SHIT THOSE GREEN PARTS ARE ACTUALLY THE EYES!?
while they both retain a bit of: Something is going on in the back of that boy's head - but you can feel that one is more genuine than the other while he's still smiling.
she has some good expressions this episode and it's like you can pinpoint the moment she realizes she's gonna totally fall for this idiot XD of course she'll deny it, but it's still there.
leading in with this probably this arc only woman who is a brave sturdy powerhouse while like SEVEN MONTHS PREGNANT is really bringing me some glee like ah yes women respecting juice being given to me thanks
Yeah, Nu and I have been saying with a name like his and the fact that he's the only one with a red machine on his back we've been wondering if he'll make it to the end
And I want to like him so bad out of spite to the fans that didn't even give him a chance and have been harassing the VA. Like, seriously, you're not real fans if you're doing that.
That and just that one line in episode one was so clunky and they gave it to him. "Who are you afraid of"
It just comes out of no where. It's the one thing I really do hate about this show so far. I don't even care that Vash is being more open and honest this time around
The VA did a good job of delivering the line, but we have no reason to believe Vash is scared of anyone yet. So why does anyone ask Vash that question?
I seriously just want him to die in a very dramatic way saving Meryl so she ends up having this huge character shift because she has to deal with survivor's guilt and wanting to be an insightful reporter
like I want him to be able to read people to mean more to Meryl then to him as a character, if that makes sense? he dies, so she wants to read people better with him gone
I don't even have a problem with him having a good read and an eye for things like Vash leaving the bar or he's actually a good gunman because he's a reporter who's supposed to be hunting the mayfly known as truth
I agree with you on that though like him being a Character Development Trauma for Meryl since she's so gung ho about things right now would be a Thing I'd Accept
My poor phone. I like to eat my lunch outside in the sun at work to get some vitamin D and I decided to watch the chase sequence again because the animation is so fun and now my phone is so warm from trying to play a video in direct Australian sunlight
If Crunchyroll can't figure out I subscribed just to watch Trigun Stampede with how often it gets rewatched here and there I don't know what will clue them in
Trailer 3 has been one of my favourites. I'm vibrating with excitement to see the context behind Vash screaming his brother's name and running at him with gun drawn.
Maybe it's a good thing I wasn't in the right country for the special viewing of the first 3 episodes because I don't know how they survived waiting this long for the 4th one
What I'm most pumped for is how is this going to end? What does this mean for the overall tone of the show? Because in the OG and manga we have a big KA-BOOM the de-escalates things between the bothers for a bit. Is that what is going to happen here?
One is where Legato appears in the anime and I think it's more when the second show down between Vash and Knives happens. So when Vash first faces his brother on the Ark and looses because Legato is a cheating cheater who cheats.
I don't want to be at work today. I want to put on my tinfoil hoodie hat and play with red strings while screaming theories into an empty room so no one else has to suffer my insanity
I was all ready and prepared to think this thing was 'meh' when it was first announced. I honestly had my expectations so insanely low, but holy shit.... this is good. This show is so good.
Anyway lunch time rant done. Now to go be an adult and have adult conversations. Today's thrilling conversation has been about someone getting their car professionally cleaned.
two of the three I have at work are dumbasses who can't handle their money or their marriages so all I hear all day is drama drama drama, money problems and perpetuating the problem instead of taking steps to fix it
though every time I try to have a conversation with her about that or cats (because let's face it, cats are the only RL thing I care to talk about with anyone here) drama llama finds a way to interrupt and make it about her somehow e__e

Because you made a lanky boy, Nightow
Vash looked goofy when needed, wistful when needed, calculating when needed, and actually worried when he was actually worried.
Rosa's angry face at the end was fucking amazing. I loved that so much
I just saw this tweet and /high pitched squealing noises of excitement
I miss them being more alien looking

But he's just neutral for me right now.
It just comes out of no where. It's the one thing I really do hate about this show so far. I don't even care that Vash is being more open and honest this time around
If it turns out the translation was just off and the line actually was: does anything scare you I'd not hate it as much
mayfly known astruthand he turns out to be molly's brotherthat really is the best song lolhoodiehat and play with red strings while screaming theories into an empty room so no one else has to suffer my insanity
