Rally Driver Ken Block Dies In Snowmobile Accident

such a wtf.

my dad almost died many times while riding snow mobiles, he flipped one and landed in a creek and was trapped under it for a second before his coworkers got him off. And then one time they were out above the tree line and a blizzard was coming in. one of their snowmobiles ran out of gas and the other 2 were very low on gas too.

they managed to get to a forest service shelter where they would have been ok, and then their boss sent out a rescue team. but the stories he has where it's like "oh haha, that time we road on snowmobiles and Mike almost got decapitated!" are pretty epic and scary.

this was all work for the forest service and they were all in their 20s and 30s and did a lot of stupid shit on those snowmobiles

Amber : also, crazy about your dad! I always assumed they were “serious” pieces of equipment but never thought of them as deadly

I think being outside in cold temperatures and ice and snow probably adds to the danger? harder to get a rescue in and no paramedics close by?
