Why do things like temperature in the place we live or illness always end up in a competition? Who cares that someone else lives in a colder place. If I freeze my ass off then IT IS COLD! Does not get warmer when it's colder somewhere else. Also if someone else is sicker does not mean I get suddenly cured. Like.. don't

Temperature competition is a very Canadian thing. It's weirdly part of our cultural norms. "Oh, you think that's cold?! Wait until you see this!"..."you got some snow?! Boo, that's a skiff".

We do that here, too. I think it’s a “I can withstand worse conditions than you can” kind of thing. Also, in the winter, there’s not much to talk about but the weather, unless you’re a sports nut or a skier/snowmobiler.
