12. The happiest Yato has ever been is definitely the moment that Hiyori gave him his shrine. He was so happy he cried. It was the fulfillment of a thousand year old wish.
41. Yato is very conflicted with his wants. He has wants and he believes he shouldn't, because it's been drilled into him that he shouldn't have his own desires. Some desires like good wishes towards people are acceptable, but anything of his own like his own shrine, his continued survival and relevance make him stand out.
He rarely gets anything he wants. He does feel like he earned that shrine but he's not sure he deserves it. He decided to use it as inspiration to really transform his image and leave calamity behind for fortune because that's always what he's wanted to do.
He is supposed to exist for the sake of father and his rebellion against that also has him horribly conflicted. He should in theory want to do what he's being told but he doesn't, and he doesn't understand why that is. For the sake of his want to live a peaceful life with Hiyori and Yukine, no matter how impossible that might seem at the moment
not quite the question but it is complicatedlol
