Dear Me, please start requesting copies of all your records, especially your tests because it's clearly the only way to get ANYTHING fucking done.

True, but as the person who is a record distributor just let me say please don't be mad if it takes a week or so to get a copy of your records. LOL I can't tell you how many times we get calls for records from people who need them "tomorrow morning for 1. my new dr appointment or 2. court"
Mostly Phen
I often ask them to mail it to me before I leave.

Mostly Phen : No email options?

Just about everything here is email and/or secure website/apps. I see my doctor and that same day I see his notes in my app.

Raynee : I requested my test be sent to my dr a MONTH ago. Never heard from the clinic I requested it from or the Dr. Then messaged the facility on Friday. Didn't hear back. Then called and left a message this morning. I can't seem to get a live person on the phone either.

Free Star🌟💫🔥 : I don't like my medical records in emails.
Raynee
OhCecilia : Oh that sucks. We have a 10 business day turn-around for dr's offices, insurance, SSD office requests or the like. Some can be rushed if it's something like a court order or if the patient needs treatment ASAP. Now, if it's a Open Records request by a patient (ours is KORA for Kansas Open Records Act) it might take a week because we have a

process we have to go through before we can release more than the basics (medication list, diagnosis, appointment history, treatment plan are basics and are free). Notes from appointments and assessments are not free and have to be checked by the person who signed off on them before we can release them. Plus, there's a base charge for supplies/labor

and a per page cost - this was set by the state legislature back in 2009 here. We have wiggle room on the fee though, because we're not going to charge someone $18.97 & .63 cents a page if they only need like 10 pages of notes. We just usually charge like $5 or something so we don't get in trouble. This was just a long winded explination to say ...

There's no reason it should take that long to get your records!

Raynee : more reasons to go digital especially in this modern age. There’s no need for paper records anymore really. (Unless backup of course). As much as HIPPA was a great initiative it really wasn’t executed properly (so surprising. ) It really messed things up and just causes more paperwork.

I’m very happy with the electronic system here. Today I was at a strange clinic in a foreign country and I could show him the report from my MRI appointment from August. It made it easier for him to give me the cortisone shot.
Raynee
We scan any paper we can, and are trying to get everything done digitally but it's hard sometimes when we deal with so many homeless people and crisis patients that just aren't able to do everything digitally. I mostly upload records to other places or send them digitally, but we still use an absurd amount of paper.

Raynee : that’s great. At least it’s forward momentum. Yes, it’s shameful the state of internet/phone services in many areas of the. Especially rural and things just get over legislated more than over regulated. Politicians always include the biggest amount of bullshit when trying to pass laws. It’s ridiculous.

Often I’ll vote down a bill that’s a good idea because if you read the fine print there’s some crazy ass shit included too. You gotta read all the info before voting.
OhCecilia
Mostly Phen : I'm going to start doing that for sure.
OhCecilia
Raynee : It's not even record records, it's ONE test. I'm annoyed that my rheumatologist waited a month to tell me they never got the test and now she's holding up me getting another test I need until she gets the results.

all my medical records are electronic. HIPPA does not prevent that at all
