Oh yeah, absolutely. I've seen miso soup used a couple times like that too, since... Yes, core Japanese staple food.

On the other hand, the miso soup example always catches me off since I've always found it to be an acquired taste, but any random isekai protagonist can introduce it to "fantasy medieval Europe" and everyone will treat it like it's the greatest thing they've ever tasted.
