Dr. Yubsie
Squall's work Christmas party was at an Indian restaurant and thus I got to say to the waitress "When I ask this question, please assume my spice tolerance is exactly what you'd expect from someone who looks like me... how spicy is this dish?"
Dr. Yubsie
I know I"m a spice wuss because they made me a mild version and I still felt it had kick :-P
Dr. Yubsie
Because I grew up in a culture where black pepper is spicy :-P

god i feel this deep in my soul.

"yeah no i'm super white about spice, sorry."
Dr. Yubsie
"I am the white girl they warned you about"
Dr. Yubsie
But at least I acknowledge my lack of spice tolerance is a me problem, not a flaw in their cooking
Dr. Yubsie
I was really hoping there'd be something I could handle that wasn't butter chicken because I don't like tomatos
Poppin'Squall
I TRY to find her stuff thats tomato-based but seasoned enough that it should block a full blast of taste and she STILL tastes it

I went to the Malaysian restaurant in town on Friday and ordered the peanut sauce (listed as one pepper level on a scale of 0-3, I'd had it before and think it's great) but it was extra spicy that day and the guy working in the kitchen came over as I was struggling and slid me a curry sauce (0 pepper lol)

lol oh no
akinoame
Yeah, I can be bad with spice too. It actually comes from both the Irish and Hispanic sides of my family
akinoame
My Hispanic grandmother never liked spicy food, so my dad grew up not eating anything particularly spicy

And as for my mom....she really doesn't like much in the way of herbs either, and I think it's because her mother doesn't have a sense of smell, so a lot of those herbs and spices were lost on her
