I was looking for memorial ornaments for Edward and Frankie and found someone on Etsy who does painted pet portrait ornaments

so I'll give those to my mom

I'm still trying to come up with other gift ideas for people... at least I know what to get the cats and dogs... they always want treats

I was going to do xmas decorations and lights today and visit mom, but I got a sore throat last night and have a low grade fever today so... decided not to go out

Ok I think I got all presents done and I mailed out cards and the one package I wanted to send

Thinking about it though I probably should have just sent a gift card

Last year I was told I “sent too much stuff” so I toned it down, but then I always underestimate how much shipping costs even for small gifts

I just have to get the baking done... probably around the 21st I’ll do the gingerbread cookies then make a pie for Christmas Eve

Christmas tree lights went out on like half the tree

I don’t want to mess with getting more Christmas junk but it looks really weird so I’ll get more lights I guess

I was going snowblow and shovel, but there's blowing snow and a wind chill of -35 so... I think I'll wait until tomorrow...

I have no idea if one present I got for my mom will arrive by Saturday or not. it was delayed, I guess, and UPS just says "the delivery date will be provided as soon as possible"

I was going to clean the house today and then make cookie dough. I got everything I needed from the store yesterday, except I couldn't find a pie crust that wasn't made with lard...

so if I make the pumpkin pie I'll have to make the crust which... I don't mind except I'm always afraid it'll come out wrong

I still have all day tomrrow and almost all day Sat to get stuff done... I'll do the baking tomorrow and prep for the stew and then finish cooking on Xmas Eve before going over to mom's

I think I'll just do the gingerbread cookies and pear bread and then if I feel like it do the pie...

I was also going to make the butternut squash stew, but I think I'm the only one who would eat it and we're having pasta Xmas Eve at my mom's, anyway

and I'll have the turkey-less roast on Xmas day, so... I'll just make the stew for New Year's or something

the cats have been extra naughty this season, I swear... usually they leave stuff alone for the most part... and when I put the tree up I leave it for a few days without any ornaments so if they want to investigate it they can do so without breaking anything, then they usually get tired of it

this year Moby and Hal have been horrible about knocking over decorations and trying to climb into the tree... Moby nearly tipped it over last night and it would've fallen on the floor if I hadn't caught it

I usually leave Xmas stuff up until New Year's, but if they keep trying to destroy things I might put it all away before then... they're driving me a little crazy and I'm afraid they'll break something

ok my mom's gift was stuck in Kansas City MO for like 3 days, but maybe I'll get it by New Year's Eve

I spent xmas at my mom's house, since I didn't really feel up to going to my aunt and uncle's house plus it snowed and I didn't want to be out driving in it all evening

I feel bad I haven't gone to xmas with them for the past few years, but I get anxious about it and I don't like rushing around xmas day... it's just stressful...

I was feeling really self conscious... and my skin always seems to act up around this time of year

my skin, especially my face and neck, gets all dried out and blotchy and I always get acne... I don't know if it's from the crappy cold dry weather or stress or both
