10 | Clark - He's my favorite superhero. Flat out. I love him. I love him in all his complexity and all his simplicity. And I get so upset that people tend to have a world of bad takes. So playing him is satisfying in general but also I get to show him all the really awesome character that people miss from the flanderized versions out there.
13 | Clark - that Clark was a theatre kid in college! how else is he going to learn how to body language things properly. how to lie without lying. how to improv. It's also an easy way to avoid sports and spend time with the kids who don't question too much weird shit.
14 | Clark - basically any arc that plays him up as the establishment, EVERYTHING around Injustice, and anything that would be on Superdick. Stuff that does not match with the character he Actually Is and is basically some Doylist nonsense.
16 | John - Hard to say since the fandom is small but I think I saw one take once that was like 'John's morality is shakey and weird' and it absolutely isn't. Once he's John, his morality is solid. He's just very practical, to the point where he is the one realizing 'okay, we want to save all the people, but you can't save ANY people if you're DEAD'.
Given his time in the Dark World, he has a lot more understanding of what they're up against and how unlikely it is for them to survive it. That informs how he handles things and how he tends to plan things out with Arthur. That's all.
16 | Kiryu - ...welcome to a LIST, okay. First off: pretending like Kiryu was/is a shit yakuza. He isn't. He wasn't. His men were happy and loyal and Kiryu had worked himself up to lieutenant in a family he'd been expelled from at one point. And no, Kazama had nothing to do with that. I point to the fact that 1. Kazama didn't tell him shit even when
everything was going insane he just set up allies and 2. Kiryu listens dutifully right up until he doesn't want to, even with Kazama. Hence the situation that had him end up in jail. So no.
Then there's the fact that people don't seem to notice that Nishiki does NOTHING but neg him during their friendship. Like, this isn't 'good friend loses it', this is a consistently shit friend who got even shittier.
And then there's anyone who thinks that Kiryu does things 'ignoring' other people's needs. Or trying to neglect anyone. HE's DAMAGED, folks. He genuinely believes his presence is harmful, that he makes any place or situation worse. The fact that he can't stand staying out of situations when they go south doesn't negate that. It's why he hates himself.
16 | Kiryu - Ooo so many to pull up. Kiryu and Trixie's first thread with the massage is a fond one, as is when he changed his hair and everyone reacted. I love any thread Kiryu gets to karaoke, all of his sessions with Norton, and so much of dadding the kids
18 | Kiryu - The balance between when he goes into speeches/longer talking and how brief and physical he can be. It also shifts depending on who he's talking to and how much he respects them. Funny enough, if he respects you a lot? You probably don't hear as much from him. Because he figures you understand a lot of important shit.
20 | Kiryu - I spent a lot of my childhood thinking that I made everything worse, divorce, for various RL reasons. So I get that mentality. I get how it poisons and warps everything.
Archivist Jon | 1 - It's a split between his voice, the way he talks and writing out his dialogue... and just his impossible situation and the very very unique perspective it gives him. I always love characters who see the world very 90 degrees and he's definitely one of them.
Malevolent John 18 | Honestly it's figuring out how much of greater mythos is functional for John, as well as some of the mechanics that just aren't explained. I think I've got a pretty comfortable balance, where I'm not doing too much but enough for it to make sense for him to know and have access to these things at this point.
But the mythos is so BIG and to be fair, there's definitely offshoots that are more focused specifically on Hastur (the Carcosa Mythos, the Yellow Sign) where it's been developed in certain areas and I don't know which parts are active and which aren't.
Jod | 7 - ...the obtuse nature of his canon. And how little we know about what we can do. I love his canon? I do. But I do find it frustrating to RP from on occasion even while I enjoy enjoying it. But goddamn can it be hard to know some things for certain.
Kiryuuuu ;;
