Uuuuugh I need to decide whether to take a train or plane down to Virginia for Christmas.

train is a more pleasant travel experience and prrrobably less disease risky, but the pick-up/drop-off situation is much more of a complicated headache

I should probably just bite the bullet and get plane tickets but uuuuuuugh

I need to start buying gifts, too, why Christmas gotta be so complicated

Yeah do the train. Pick up / drop off may be complicated but I'd sacrifice that for a more pleasant trip.

Hot take, compare costs, compare time, go train as long as the travel time isn't absurd or it's not significantly more expensive.

The problem with the train really is that when I say that the pick-up/drop-off situation is more complicated what I really mean is that the train stops in DC and from there it's another 2 and a half hours at best to my sister's place courtesy of my father's driving

whereas the plane will be just a 20-ish minute ride with my sister and possibly a nibling or two

Like if I was flying to my folks in Vermont my best option in terms of cost is Boston + rental car.

And if I took the train out it costs more money and takes another day.
