it seems to be a combination of a few things: a, the fact that they sell this gimmicky shit where you can 'own your own little kingdom' if enough people buy land near yours and people think it's fun and cool to be a 'lord' (which is far and away its own issue, but anyway)
b, they say 'we'll plant a tree' and the green movement is big but it's hard to find ways you can help the planet so here's this company all here like no research needed, trees are great, help us plant trees
c, they seem to be offering people a quite frankly terrifying amount of money and it's really hard to turn that down with YouTube getting ever more unreliable
finally i think a good way to help stop this is leave a comment telling the creator to not do that sponsor again and maybe why, the Click was tipped off because there were a lot of people telling him it was bad
honestly in terms of sponsors, I'd just rather a straight up product. don't try to sell me anything weird or lifestyly or "natural" just sell me shoes or earbuds or something
yep. honestly I DO skip sponsorship bits, and I feel guilt free because one of the youtubers one time said ...sponsors really don't ask for info on like...where viewership drops off so if we stop watching there...it doesn't matter
i'm hopeful this is the start of the end for Established Titles, lots of people are talking about stuff being exposed 'in the last day or two' so the news is slowly being spread at long last
Used them once. Took the profits from those episodes and donated them to a local high school for free breakfasts for hs students for a year and I believe some computers for the school
yeah I saw an ad for really good trustworthy wonderful therapy on YouTube recently and paused like what's this? because surely it can't be better help anymore. it totally was. they're still kicking
I love how transparent and honest the click is though like I was a little concerned seeing an apology video from him but he always delivers and maintains being such a real dude
okay i am really unhappy that the knife company that's mentioned is part of Established Titles, i was thinking about one day owning them. I know, i know, i can get fine knives here, but they looked like really pretty knives
The Click realizing his mistake and apologizing is very noble. He wasn't the only one who did research on ET, a company who double checks sponsor backgrounds cleared them too so I don't blame him at all for getting tricked. It's hard to find info on just how scummy they are. It's wonderful seeing someone so transparent about what they now know is bad.
yeah apparently it was set up to look super legit, and was hard to suss out as a scam. MrBallen took down his vid yesterday & reuploaded it today w/o the sponsor after he found out
I really don't know the difference between sponsorship and ads but I also don't YouTube much, but even I was like wtf. that goes beyond oversaturated to his viewers will probably actively hate to see you
like the first person to do it i was like 'oh that's kind of neat, maybe...' and then just about everyone i watched suddenly was doing it and it was overwhelming to the point of being highly annoying
you have 5 people who are all encouraging people to buy a 'kingdom' of plots around them, just how much space is there??? can't we do something else with that land?
yeah the idea you don't really own the land but you pay to like sponsor a plot of trees was really cool to me. it's more of a gimmick than anything to get people donating to the green movement. it's too bad that's not what it actually was lmao
