[Apollo][Gundam Zeta] thoughts on ep17 as I walk back to the dorm. TLDR I hated it

beltorchika is an incoherent, nonsense character and I hate her in both the "I dislike her" and "she makes the show's writing worse" way

everything interesting about kamille is fading into the background and he's being written like amuro 2 in most respects

and then, fucking, Mirai. take a great character with an arc about how she's a human being and not a measure of her fiance's worth and turn her into a character with no traits other than "mother and wife"

it's frustrating since Tomino can do better than this. the women in the main cast of 0079 were well realized thoughtfully written characters

he fucking chose to be a lazy misogynist in zeta's writing

this is going to bug me through the rest of the show if it keeps up and I'm not sure if the good moments will outweigh the bad feelings the show is leaving me w/

every other character is totally static, no changes as the show plods along

while in 0079 the cast evolving and reacting to the war was a key part of the appeal

if it was just one of these factors i'd bear it, but both the misogynistic writing and the lack of actual character arcs is driving me up the wall
