as someone who loves all ff7: ff7r is in a weird area of seemingly acknowledging the events of the original game (and advent children, for that matter) as already having happened. it's extremely trippy and while you can definitely play it before the OG, it has a lot of moments that end up really jarring and deliberately uncomfortable if you're

already familiar with it

the good news is though that ff7r2 isn't anywhere near being released lol

ohhhh hell yes! I love the original game. I never got that attached to any of the spin-offs, but CC has some fun stuff for sure

the original is just like. imo. so much bigger and weirder and more mindfucky than the spin-offs (or its chunky 90s lego baby graphics) would lead you to believe, lol

yeah, FF7 is beloved for a reason. it's blocky graphics actually do a lot to make profoundly fucked up things momentarily hard to decipher
