showtime!
[apollo][gundam zeta] got to breakfast early enough to watch ep8. i got THREE FUCKING HOURS OF SLEEP so i wasn't the most attentive, but i have a few thoughts
showtime!
emma is too cool. she is going to die sooner or later, likely sooner given she's not the main girl in the ed
Dragons Dragons
i used to play emma back on lj, i love her
showtime!
i'm forgiving these subs for the jank since they translated emma going on a roadtrip as "with [her] girlfriend," which wasn't the canon intent but i'm taking it as proof of her being bi
showtime!
nobody on the argama or off it respects "quattro's" secret identity. it's hilarious. i know there are reasons why he bothers (war crimes, public image of the AEUG) but it's still funny
showtime!
the secret strategy meeting being in a fucking mcdonald's, complete with the captain in a work uniform, was hilarious
showtime!
speaking of char, it's endearing how he's trying to look after kamille off the battlefield
showtime!
he's mostly failing, though
showtime!
jerid was competent this episode. uncanny. hope it doesn't happen again
showtime!
this episode was unintentionally funny as a whole, tbh. haro taking a bullet for kamille felt like a punchline
showtime!
despite that, you can feel kamille struggling. brought this up last plurk: kamille can choose to stay out of the robot, and because he has that choice, he feels the weight of every life he takes more than amuro
showtime!
once amuro came back from desertion, his emotional arc was defined by how he didn't have one. he repressed his feelings because he couldn't deal w/them and still fight, that's why he drifted apart from fraw bow
showtime!
kamille is refreshing because he feels so many emotions all the time that he has no choice but to deal with them, but the audience doesn't directly get his thoughts often. you have to try and understand what he's feeling and going through
showtime!
not a criticism of zeta, but: i miss the ensemble cast of 0079. there was a reason to care about everyone on white base, both as characters and combatants. made the ending of amuro reaching out to help everyone and the kids bringing him back so sweet, as messy as the last arc was
showtime!
but in zeta, we really only care about char/quattro, emma, and kamille on the argama.
showtime!
not a criticism, different shows. i just personally like 0079's approach more
showtime!
one last thought about this episode.
showtime!
zeon remnants calling themselves "axis" is a lot. tomino remains brutally unsubtle
𝖊𝖓𝖘𝖍𝖗𝖔𝖚𝖉𝖊𝖉.
yeah a lot of the argama crew are more or less nonentities imo. i think some of them do end up sticking with you but it's a slower thing
Doge-lover Joja
As far as Bridge crews go, the Argama's kinda middling. I only ever remember Torres and Saegusa because of Super Robot Wars or the Dynasty Warrior Gundam games
Friendpatine
speaking of, one of the plots/missions involving Emma in the DW: Gundam games is one where she gets accidentally dropped into some kind of VR simulation/recreation/whatever (the series is very Excuse Plot when they bring up a plot at all) of motherfucking G Gundam and it is fucking hysterical.
Friendpatine
Professional space soldier has to deal with super robot martial arts nonsense.
showtime!
that's amazing, holy shit
Doge-lover Joja
She's very much not impressed by any of the other machines on display, even as the pilots try to sell her on them
Doge-lover Joja
She's quite the fan of the MK-II
Friendpatine
Emma in G Gundam is about the only thing I remember really amusing me from the DWG games apart from the first game throwing Domon Kasshu together with Elpeo Puru (or...however her name is, that's what the game calls her) and Zechs Merquise/Milliardo Peacecraft for the crossover mode and it being exquisite.
Doge-lover Joja
Emma and Puru-2 worked with Loran in that one
Doge-lover Joja
she was in a supporting roll there
Doge-lover Joja
role*

the one I remember from the second game was her talking trash about Victory 2 Gundam, the apex mobile suit of Universal Century
