that was nearly the last Amani event

for those who don't know, In Sound Mind is a delightful survival horror type of game with fantastic humor, where you are a therapist investigating the fuckery that's taken over your town and which may be connected to four of your patients

unlike many.......

/glances at the horror genre as a whole

.......most horror games

it also treats mental illness as something, like.... understandable? Not just Boo Scary. Even some mental illnesses that are sometimes just brushed aside

(one of the patients has an anger problems and the protag speculates a narcissistic personality disorder as well but, despite being perhaps one of the more unlikeable of the patients, they're still treated with understanding and sympathy)

also a variety of settings, and very neat antagonist designs

Anyway, Angeal having to deal with the Intensified issues of those he cares about sounds like a great time, fuck with him more

Comes on to say that In Sound Mind respects people’s genuine struggles with mental illness

Yeah! And the original protagonist voices that out loud more than once

And I do like that the Primary Antagonist behind it all even voices (on more than one occasion himself) the idea that maybe Desmond, the protag, is at fault for the fates of his patients

he's not, of course (although the game definitely shows that the gap between therapist and patient is not that far in actuality), but boy, what media ever even voices

"hey, maybe you're responsible for pushing this person to the edge for being a shitty therapist"
