there was a specific point where it felt like the first time it snuck in where it didn't quite fit and she didn't react and idk, that just worked really well for me
and yeah I had to be more specific about what is what in my rp than the book really gets, since every time Mouse sees him she's terrified and not very, y'know, coherent
I rewatch stuff a ton because my mind is a sieve, used to play more book characters and reread but then I didn't have the attention span for books for a while
nice :3 I have a handful, though only two are at all active right now, Freddie and Stone from the Raksura books. (working brain meds are wonderful I hope they keep working!)
eh, I collect dolls and have partners who collect dolls, and while I do find the super realistic babies creepy those are also something artists put work into
if there were hundreds and donating them somewhere was completely unfeasable... but I don't know if there's any level of spite that would make me happy about it
mouse, with the completely reasonable response of not trusting this child but me: I love this changeling and her purple prose, I would die for her, peak weird girl energy
I'm assuming not terribly person-y. he's been locked out of his house for a decade, now, interacting only with other poppets, and that, as far as I can tell, not very often. like I doubt he's very chummy with them if he's trying to keep Mouse from going there
and I think his goal with the other poppet was... he was lonely. inferring from him hanging out with deer and not in the city, he probably doesn't get much company
he's just a lonely old man dangit. who kind of has forgotten some bits and pieces of how to human. also who doesn't entirely get what happened to him since he seems so confused by Mouse not letting him in?
and that's fair! I guess I was wondering if he knew it would attack mouse or not and also if it had something to do with his wife repelling the holler people--like, bring her back to keep the rest away or etc, because I thought there would be more on that
yeahhhhhh he seemed very confused which made me sad
oh he definitely did not intend for it to hurt Mouse, I think. not if he was trying to protect her. he probably didn't anticipate as much malice seeping in from his wife/the house as it did
yeah, that's also my guess, which made me wonder if it WAS actually trying to murder them or he gave it some other order like help get mouse away from the hills and then it was... needlessly agro about it
could be. could also be he was viewing his scattered memories of the house more rosily than was warranted, after all that time, and kind of just... forgot... how awful his wife was. or thought he could imbue the house-construct with his own nature more than hers and faaaaaaailed
... he is absolutely trying to make a new poppet-friend out of those doll pieces from the latest tdm. waiting to hear back what'll happen if he puts it together very wrong >.>
but yeah. making new poppet-friends is the only magic he CAN do and this is absolutely going to wake the desire in him again. even if it still burns up, he might just find stuff to make another
he wants a nap SO BAD. also I'm pretty sure the others have no desire whatsoever to make another of them out of those bones. he didn't turn out how they wanted after all XD
yeah that would've been the best :< if it were any other of Ursula Vernon's stories, honestly, he might have, she loves weird monsters. but since this was horror it wasn't allowed
speaking of a) I'm sad he hadn't been friends with Foxy when he was alive because I'd love a basis for their interaction given she has a lot of Eda energy
and she'd be fascinated if she finds out he's making poppets
anyway I don't think he'd think to hide it from her if she asked. I'ma do a catch-all for the month and include a doll prompt if you feel like hitting it up ^^
she loves wild magic and her world has abominations which are construct servants that aren't undead, and some other ways of bringing inanimate objects to life
I think the only example we have of them using bones/people are Anna's children-bodyguards and they were killed and uses so young I don't know that they had much in the way of memories to come with them
since a lot of them were animal/mostly inanimate things based it also seems like they've changed a lot in how they make them so I have to wonder if they just wouldn't have used full grown person bones in the past, or if they did but it was more deliberate etc
but now I'm listening to "true evil is literally anything I don't understand Forbidden Knowledg" and "you'd go completely mad if a cat talked" and "women children and animals can recognize true evil but men are too ~civilized~" and idk, I think the last time I wanted a literary character to shut up this badly was henry wotton
I'm not sure lovecraft was necessarily right that he had ~the one true interpretation~ of this story but I see where this author was drawing from which is cool
I'm assuming that's who was at the window and in the yard, not 100% sure how that fits together with the not fully skeletal deer effigy
(I feel like I read more related to those in your app but I deliberately haven't reread it in a bit)
yeahhhhh she's having a time
he's already endearing in his writing
(makes sense!)
now that I have working brain medsI might bring some of my book muses back if I do
(thanks! they're definitely the reason I'm keeping up with rp again so fingers crossed)
obviously I see why she's scared out of her mind in context butand then I forced myself to actually sleep/also pats him
and his goals with the second poppet
yeahhhhhh he seemed very confused which made me sad
since it was initially with him when mouse was trying to get to the hills
just a little old man doing his best ;-;
I want to see how that goes!
I was hoping he would in fact think to idk, scratch a Kilroy on the door with his little hoofies
and
yeah that would be cool!
but yeah that seems like it makes sense
it also seems like they've changed a lot in how they make them so I have to wonder if they just wouldn't have used full grown person bones in the past, or if they did but it was more deliberate etc
yeah
but also I get why she was that desperate
literally anything I don't understandForbidden Knowledg" and "you'd go completely mad if a cat talked" and "women children and animals can recognize true evil but men are too ~civilized~" and idk, I think the last time I wanted a literary character to shut up this badly was henry wottondespite these men having opposite energy. Same but opposite.
