[unnecessary nitpicking about sci-fi][eureka seven]
Quinneapolis
it's a good show
Quinneapolis
but it does something that bugs me
Quinneapolis
here's a slice of the plott, spoilers actually
Quinneapolis

Quinneapolis
okay so
Quinneapolis
there's a concept in this setting, called the Question Limitation
Quinneapolis
I don't know all about it or its reason for existing, if there is one, but the basic idea is
Quinneapolis
if there are too many sapient lifeforms in existence, the universe goes crazy go nuts
Quinneapolis
and possibly explodes
Quinneapolis
and there is a conflict between the Humans and the Coralians related to this
Quinneapolis
the Coralians all went into hibernation so that they don't count towards the limit
Quinneapolis
but the humans just want to wipe them out
Quinneapolis
and in doing so, are waking them up
Quinneapolis
bringing the total active population closer to the breaking point
Quinneapolis
and my gripe is this.
Quinneapolis
Eureka Seven takes place on one planet.
Quinneapolis
There are two trillion galaxies in the observable universe.
BattroidBattery
...I thought I watched all of E7 but I don't remember this plot point at all
Quinneapolis
Are we saying that 1,999,999,999,999 of those galaxies have no sapient life in them, and the only two species to ever count happen to be cosmically right next door
Quinneapolis
and the rest of the cosmos is just a wasteland
oh i'm scary
it might be localized
ShootingXC
I think it's so much sapient life in too little space as well
Quinneapolis
because the alternative is, how the fuck does any of this matter even a tiny bit
oh i'm scary
and the wording did not translate well
Quinneapolis
that would make a litttle more sense
ShootingXC
and is also apparently influenced by
Blood Music (novel) - Wikipedia
BattroidBattery
TTGL improved on this concept by saying that only people who are super rad count towards the limit
katzenjammer
I was gonna say, sounds like the plot beat from ttgl
