Introduce yourself in books!

I rewrote my personality with the Beekeeper's Apprentice in 9th grade, and don't think I ever rolled back.

The Curve of Time is local lit, it's the summer travels of a single mother and various combinations of her five kids, in the 1920s, in a very small boat in the waters of BC. My dad bought his copy of it in the hospital gift shop while my mom was in labor, and it was a regular feature in bedtime stories all my childhood.

In college, I had a teacher assign us to write a fictional obituary. Mine had nothing to do with anything like the Curve of Time, but my teacher asked me after class if I'd read it, based on how I wrote.

For someone who doesn't like nonfic, 3/4 of these are nonfic.

Starship and the Canoe is the joint biography of Freeman Dyson, theoretical physicist and Star Trek name-drop, and his son George who builds immense kayaks and lived in a treehouse made of scrap wood.

And I can't read Maiden Voyage without crying because I wish to God I'd set out to sail around the world at 18 or that I were doing it right now.
