Evren is a mystery and adventure game set in a reality not unlike the Star Wars Expanded universe. As players make in-game choices, the overarching metaplot will change and adapt to their decisions and actions.
There is room both for players who want to engage in the metaplot and for those that are looking for a more slice-of-life experience.
...hm. The character section makes it sound like close-canon OCs could be acceptable so long as it's plausible that they're not mentioned in canon, and that they're not unnecessarily disruptive to canon characters as written?

: Yep, that's the case! For example, you can play a Star Wars OC that's a bounty hunter, but not the Mandalorian's long lost brother who is ALSO a jedi AND a sith.
they're close canon but don't really modify canon so there's none of the whole Long Lost Brother thing of not really making sense with established canon
copperflower
rofl honestly that's very much my stance on it, but I know it's a pretty hot take, and I've seen enough badly written fandom OCs in my day that I can sympathize
To clarify, is the "wish" that brings characters into the game something that has to be an intentional desire to leave their homeworld, or is it more of set dressing on top of the typical jamjar "you got whisked here by some sort of magic/spacetime anomaly, oops!"
For context behind my question, another game I was looking at (thegreatspacerace) specifies that characters enter the game via encountering an introductory NPC at some point in canon and agreeing to join + this cannot be a post-death encounter. I'm wondering if this is something similar as my current character options don't work with that premise
Nice! An accidental wish works great for me. This looks really interesting overall - wishing you a smooth-sailing set-up period and many interested players, modteam!

: No worries and I hope to see you then! (Also, legit, if you want to play, but have concerns about AC or time commitment or whatever, let me know? We're adults and this isn't high school. No essays, no grading, etc.)

: For sign, it's up you, but I'd like to know why you picked what you did. Does it suit the character? Would they rail against the tropes?
And I'm happy to NPC anything you need. I generally can't tag much during working hours, but I'm usually pretty good for answering questions on plurk or on Discord
As a suggestion-- it might be better to make that clear? The announcement about the signs is neat, but I thought it wasn't ready for the TDM, so I was waiting for more news?
I would be looking into writing a setting-AU character, but I first need to re-read a lot of the info before I can know how to approach that properly. I'll probably poke tomorrow about it though!
