Warner Bros. Television Group (WBTVG) laid off 82 scripted, unscripted, and animation employees on Tuesday, and will not fill 43 more vacant positions. The 125 positions represented 26% of the companies workforce across those units. This is notable because Cartoon Network Studios is being merged with Warner Bros. Animation.

Development and production in both studios is being merged.

This likely means that funding and IP direction will be merged as well, so new original shows are gonna be harder to get off the ground as opposed to reboots or continuations of older ones.

Given that WBD really wants to focus on building up and out of existing IPs rather than creating new ones.
