this was... definitely the best episode of the show so far. it even Got me

bright finally, finally breaking down, falling to his knees, and openly weeping really sold how totally fucked this entire situation is

if even bright can't hold it in anymore... fuck

something else that strikes me is how ryu behaved that whole episode

he was an actual soldier. he knew what it meant to be down with his kind of injury in enemy territory while supplies are scarce and everyone is already stretched thin

he probably thought that he was a goner anyways. that's why he kept on getting up to give people what advice he could

that shot of the white base struggling to take off over the makeshift graves while the kids realized they were leaving them behind was also... fuck

on a different note, I think this episode definitely had my favorite fight in the series so far

insane tactics from zeon, everyone getting pushed to the brink, the core fighters helping and not just the Gundam...

the way you can actually SEE amuro improving as a pilot

doing the math in real time to figure a way out, pushing his reflexes to the brink to get the maneuver just right... fuck, it was amazing

man. with white base in the condition it's in, I wonder if it can even take part in the big operation

to make the enemy panic about the terrifying experimental weapon and to divert most of their fighting strength to destroying it, letting the rest of the federation get into position to assault the mine without any hassle

everyone's so tired!! I love that about 0079 and ep. 20 is such an important showcase of that. everyone's already stretched so thin and then this terrible thing happens
