The only glimpses that Suletta ever got of extensive greenery like that were through the extensive records of anime, books, etc. that Aerial had uploaded
in most gundam series your mech getting fucked up is something that can be fixed and that's probably true here, but also it means a character that we like a lot is getting hurt
and also even with suletta's incredible synch potential with the GUND system, we know that damage to the mech at least manifests as intense pain for the pilots
it feeling pain would actually probably be an upside of the system before it got turned into mobile suit tech, since pain is how you tell that something is WRONG and that you need to fix it
