not that i think many people much read my plurk because i constantly forget to add it to my list of contact but might as well babble on it

i kinda leaned away from total body horror for bucky's fog form because the real horror that man lives with every day is easy enough to bat around, and that's the winter soldier coming back to the surface

and i'll spare everyone the long lectures about all the reasons i think that the soldier isn't quite as gone as the MCU or bucky himself would like to think suffice it to say i've amassed quite a bit of evidence

but in ryslig at this point he's especially not gone because bucky's never even heard of wakanda let alone been there to have his head mucked out, so what would be the most horrifying to a degree is to instead of having him go monstrous in physical form, bring back the monster he carries around on the inside, right

there's a reason i always tag shit with bucky/the soldier as a FICTIONAL depiction of DID because while to some level they match up with the description, there's literally no way to actually compare what bucky and soldier have going on to any type of real world scenario because his scenario just couldn't HAPPEN in the real world

like there's a lot of argument to be had about whether the soldier is a fully realized alter but truthfully i don't think it ultimately matters because, again, bucky's state isn't real DID and couldn't possibly BE compared to that, so going by what he himself describes it as, and borrowing bits from the comics, i think there's a case

but at the same time, the two of them also still share awareness because bucky remembers everything that happened while the soldier was active, so it's sure a WHOLE ASS thing to debate

but tl;dr i do personally roll with the evidence that suggests that the soldier isn't just "bucky but robotty" but more or less a different being entirely, but the two of them are still tied together in a way that leaves them both fully aware of everything their shared body gets up to and with different methods of dealing with shit

there's a lot of bleedthrough, like a LOT of bleedthrough, and both of them share some tendencies, but they aren't ultimately the same PERSON. hell the fact that bucky's right-handed and the soldier is left-handed is sure a sign if nothing else lol

the long and short of this rambling about is that "Kaito asked for a name and the soldier has no idea what to say" lol

I love seeing takes on fog forms and mental changes that hit characters differently. Sometimes body horror just isn’t as scary as what’s going on in your own head. Also has a lot to do with a character's relationship to their body etc

Yeah, and I'm pretty sure Bucky's issues with his body are a whole big knot of issue that needs to be untangled but it's less to do with the changes, which I get the feeling he's mostly made peace with, but the idea of his body doing things that HE'S not in charge of, and a full feral freakout every fog is sure going to do it lol
