Following this one artist I know is just watching someone, over time, giving up every rule and standard they'd set down for themselves because they constantly end up running into the fact that they need money. It's honestly a little depressing.

They used to do a lot of risque art and outright porn, then spent a few months in Japan and came back deciding that they didn't want that to be their legacy and they'd never do smut again.

They promptly lost all of their supporters, spent a bit of time working on a passion project, and, a few years later, only really got moving again when they started doing porn again.

They swore to themselves they'd never do furry art (idk their problem with furries, just that they swore not to), come this month when they're six hundred bucks short on rent, start doing a commissioned furry comic.

Like, on the one hand, at least they're smart enough to not let pride get in the way of a roof over their heads, but still. Kinda depressing when I think about it.
