i'd say best thing is to watch with a friend who already knows it so they can warn you for upcoming heavy shit?

;__; i wish i could tell you the drug stuff is hard to avoid BUT it's a major part of the storyline of one character (and the character we both know will be your favorite to boot, lmao)

i binged it in a day with my sister when i was visiting a couple months back and i'm real squeamish with gore and stuff, and she was able to tell me when bad shit was going down so i could look away

but yes that's a good point, i'm always happy to give out timestamps (and/or scene summaries, if you do want to fully skip past something)

(and our promise for s2 is that she'll watch the eps as they air and I DVR them and watch them the next day when she tells me when bad shit starts happening lmao)

yeah, that's valid

but the grind of feeding an addiction and the desperate stupid shit that it leads you into is a big one

this particular addiction story focuses a lot on using drugs and alcohol to drown out pain and trauma - so while there's plenty of drug and alcohol use onscreen, the focus is more on the pain she's trying to drown out, and the desperate stupid shit done is presented as far more of a consequence of that pain rather than the drug use itself

but i'm not sure whether or not that is an appreciable enough difference to matter

because of course it's all very intertwined!

nor am I, and I'm probably going to have to watch an episode and then see how it hits me

(mine was absolutely about trauma, but I didn't know that at the time)

(it was an instant hush to all the white noise in my brain and a surrender to the haunting sense of failure and that was undiagnosed ADHD)
