question: is Rings of Power in the same continuity as the Jackson films? I have tagged this Galadriel as "galadriel (amazon)" in the memories to differentiate her from filmladriel but unsure if this was necessary (purely talking continuity-wise, not age)

I honestly have no clue
{TharBG}
I think that's a pretty common confusion lol

I like that this confusion comes from the first person to post ROP icons heh

So apparently while they deliberately aim to evoke the look and feel of the original movies, ROP isn't officially in the same continuity as LOTR/Hobbit movies, since those are owned by Warner Bros, andthe WB isn't involved with the ROP show in any way. So I think the question of continuity is a question of IP rights in this case.
ᴛᴇᴀꜰʟɪɴɢ
we sure live in a day and age
ᴛᴇᴀꜰʟɪɴɢ
like they can't legally connect the show to the actual movie continuity in any meaningful way because of the rights.
ᴠɪʟʟᴀɪɴ𝑓ᴜᴄᴋᴇʀ
afaik: there is no continuity difference.
ᴠɪʟʟᴀɪɴ𝑓ᴜᴄᴋᴇʀ
it's effectively a prequel, not a reboot or redo of anything.
ᴠɪʟʟᴀɪɴ𝑓ᴜᴄᴋᴇʀ
i'm really not sure the rights ownership makes a difference
ᴠɪʟʟᴀɪɴ𝑓ᴜᴄᴋᴇʀ
the best scenario i can think of - which is not ideal - is xmen vs the mcu. we still tend to lump it all in as marvel live action, don't we?
ᴠɪʟʟᴀɪɴ𝑓ᴜᴄᴋᴇʀ
maybe star wars is a little more comparable: the sequels were technically owned and produced by another company, but we don't differentiate those.
ᴠɪʟʟᴀɪɴ𝑓ᴜᴄᴋᴇʀ
(and technically, LOTR was done by New Line, not WB proper like the hobbit was; there's really no difference in the source material or overall continuity)

I'm going to take the example of Spider-Man since unlike X-Men (so far??) it has characters in both continuities: all Spidey movies are tagged in entry tags as "marvel: movies" but the characters are tagged in memories as "Peter Parker / Spider-Man (mcu)" and "Peter Parker / Spider-Man (tasm)" because they're different continuities
DWRP Icons 🌞
similarly Batman: all movie Batsies "dc: movie" but Battinson's distinct from Nolan-verse and Batfleck
DWRP Icons 🌞
*all movie Batsies are entry tagged "dc: movies"
DWRP Icons 🌞
*but Battinson's distinct in the memory tags
DWRP Icons 🌞
with Star Wars, we have characters like Leia who we see at different ages and Anakin who we see in different mediums who come under the same memories tags

they're different actors anyway, I know if I were playing Galadriel I'd be looking for either one or the other
ᴠɪʟʟᴀɪɴ𝑓ᴜᴄᴋᴇʀ
up to y'all, obviously, I just figure people would be able to tell the difference.
