I swear, with every story I read about the evil committed by conservatives and fascists, the more I'm pushed to the radical left and the more I believe the only long-term solution to this problem is... well, it ain't peaceful.
I hate that I feel this way. I shouldn't have to feel this way. But some days I feel like the walls are closing in. Nobody in a position of power wants to openly admit the threat posed by growing fascism in America and around the world.
And before anybody chimes in with something about the Democrats or Biden's recent speech, forget it. The Democrats aren't going to save us. They're complicit, aside from a small minority attempting changes in a gridlocked, sclerotic legislative system. Even if they were successful, the Supreme Court will just say "Nope, sorry."
We're never going to be truly free of this shit until capitalism is replaced by something else. What that is, I have no idea - it's not socialism. It's probably something we haven't even conceived of yet.
With all the garbage going on, it is overwhelming, and you're justified in your feelings. But being pushed to violence is the easy answer, and is in fact what they want. The hard work is the fight through peaceful means, and staying true to your values. You're a good person deep down Sean, and I know you can do it. Hang in there.
Not sure anything but an epic natural disaster will shake it.
