I always find it funny whenever I come across a take like "they ruined the backrooms/slenderman/some other subpar popular creepypasta when they added lore!" because like. the original is still there. you can ignore the stuff people make that you don't like. and you can make more in the style that you do like. It's a creepypasta not a TV or book series.
slenderman was just a picture with a tall creepy dude. backrooms was a fairly mid idea to begin with. none of these are high art, they weren't ruined by anything and complaining that people changed what is an inherently communal form of storytelling is silly

Like, I agree that communities tend to over develop these things to the point where they're not enjoyable for me or lose the experience of the original but also like
like I actually enjoy some of the things that came out of creepy pastas being developed, like some of the ARGs, but ultimately it seems silly to complain about someone ruining a creepypasta
