[Pet dog] So sometimes when I have a people food and my dog is begging, I look it up to see if it's safe to give him some and I share if it is
serpentcyborg
I just looked up whether raspberries are safe for dogs, and apparently 16 cups are raspberries are the safe limit
serpentcyborg
Since I don't even have that many raspberries, I think I'm safe
serpentcyborg
(though it says it's not recommended to give more than a cup, but still safe on that)
serpentcyborg
Since I just wanted to give him a couple individual raspberries, not replace his food with it
.pinkman.
16 cups is so many raspberries lol

I don't think even I, a human, could eat sixteen cups of raspberries lol... th-that's probably not good for... most anyone?
serpentcyborg
Yeah, I thought that was funny, like...okay, I'm guessing since my dog can't even eat an entire cup of food in a sitting
serpentcyborg
I can just not worry about it because I think eating that many raspberries would make anyone sick

I remember when I was a kid, I once ate myself sick on cherries, my fingers were stained red gijrsfkn I probably ate about sixteen cups of cherries haha

if I were a dog I'd be in the ER for sure.

tho it does frustrate me sometimes when I google if things are safe for dogs and the answer is essentially
like the other day Charlie was begging for almonds and the Internet was like "dogs love the taste of almonds! but they're not good for them! but they're not bad for them! [...] the end!" And I'm like
Guess you get to try Two (2) almonds?

articles have a bad habit of telling you if something is healthy for a dog rather than give a yes or no on if it'll hurt them. lol
eelvember
like yes, I know that fruit is high in sugar and I shouldn't feed it to my dog regularly, but what I want to know is will my dog get sick and die if he eats this piece of cantaloupe I dropped on the floor?
☁️𝕔𝕝𝕠𝕦𝕕𝕓𝕖𝕣𝕣𝕪☁️
That. My dog has a stomach of steel. But I ain’t sharing my chocolate covered raisins with him either.
eelvember
also ftr - almonds are okay but walnuts can potentially cause seizures
eelvember
something I found out digging up info as someone who likes walnuts
☁️𝕔𝕝𝕠𝕦𝕕𝕓𝕖𝕣𝕣𝕪☁️
Yes, I did find that out! Macadamia nuts are also a no go. But cashews are fine.
eelvember
yeah

Charlie goes nuts for nuts of any kind so I had to do my research when visiting him recently haha. He just wants the cronch so bad...
serpentcyborg
Good to know
serpentcyborg
Especially since I have a dog prone to seizures

Eating off the human's plate is also somewhat of a social thing since dominant pack members always get bigger and better portions.
serpentcyborg
I feel like sharing food is a social thing for humans, too
serpentcyborg
But also my dog has the most polite way of begging
serpentcyborg
He sits completely quiet next to me and just looks up at me
Hyatt
did he grow up near cats. that is a very cat way of begging for human food
serpentcyborg
I don't know because I adopted him as an adult, but he seems to enjoy being around cats so possibly
serpentcyborg
Like one of the strays in the area rubbed up on him the day I took him home and he was very happy and polite about it
