Hybrid cars are all good and nice but jump starting when the starter battery is empty is not simple.

classic engined cars are easy, you connect the jumpstart cables, start the engine (using the other car's battery) disconnect en let the engine run to recharge your battery.

But with a hybrid the petrol engine normally doesn't start when you are standing still. So it doesn't charge you battery while standing still.

But you cannot start driving with the starter cables connected.

you got to charge from the other car long enough to get sufficient electrons moving to actually start driving.

I think it depends on the type, my model isn't too terrible. Jumping it only took connecting to the front fuse, me starting it, and driving keeping it on a bit. Mine will charge the 12V and big battery even at a standstill, it just turns the gas engine on for a bit. I often have it do this if I am sleeping at a rest stop, lets me keep AC on at night.

this one is a Toyota Corolla hybrid the petrol engine only starts while driving when you need more power then the drive battery can deliver. The issue was that the standard 12V battery was out and that is used for the electronics.

So even with a full driving battery it won't start. so you got to jump-charge till you have enough to get the electronics running.
