Why do bugs bite my feet EVERY TIME I go to play ball with my dog? T_T

I have THREE bites (two on right foot, one on left foot) I have to put anti-itch cream on now >>

of course I wouldn't have to go out into the grass to get bit by bugs IF SHE WOULD BRING THE BALL TO ME

where are these bugs even living the grass is dead/dormant from the heat
