I hate getting into arguments on the internet.

Actually I tend to hate getting into arguments period, but I tend to find anon makes people act stupider.

What's worse is when you're arguing with a friend of a friend, and then you feel slightly alienated because you don't get along with your friend's friend.

I just want to be happy and let everyone else be happy

And now my friend agrees with them, is probably upset with me, and I don't even know if apologizing will be enough, so I'm just going to go ahead and cry myself to sleep.

More context, the friend is an artist the friend of the friend is a mod on their discord server. Now we're talking about banning me from their discord server to appease the bloodthirsty mob that has been whipped up.

What was the argument?

no worries, but if you want to get it off your chest, I can say there aren't a whole lot of things that get me really angry with people i regard as friends
