I hate book ads like this. The only thing I can glean about the actual story is that there's superheroes...and that's it.

Representation is great! but uh...tell me what the fuck it's about, otherwise I'm gonna ignore it.

oh, I know, but personally I'm not gonna slog through a plot that I don't enjoy even if it has decent rep.

You can advertise the rep and give an elevator pitch of the plot! they're not mutually exclusive!

I absolutely loathe when someone says "found family" to me now.
Do I in practice enjoy it in stories? Yes! Do I hate the way people talk about it? YES AND MORESO

Good writing on a sentence by sentence level? Coherent plot? I guess those aren't important.

a while back this was discourse on tumblr and I saw an honest to god NY Times best selling author say that anyone who wants more info besides tropes and rep just wants to be spoiled about the story.
