I’m watching David Attenborough’s Ant Mountain. Fascinating!

ants are fascinating.

heylis-elf : I’ve watched nature documentaries since I was a kid, but I did not know the intricacies of what happens after the mating flight. The queen often ends up behind enemy lines and has to sweet-talk hostile ants, even of other species, into accepting her as their queen. They raise her babies and eventually they are replaced!

There’s a David Attenborough marathon on BBC Earth today. The next documentary is about eggs. :-)

You are not Watching president Joe Biden live because he kill a terrorist.;-)

say, Grace#🟦 : It was a wood ant in the Alps. They formed a super community, I think they called it one of the largest organisms in the world. It has something like a million queens.

The queens are like roaches, get pregnant once, pregnant for life!

say, Grace#🟦 : Not a fun life, though.
