[Orville/SNW/Fandom Menace] catching up on The Orville, reading the TVTropes thread, and just had to repost this observation:

Apparently Angel (a non-binary character with no discernable real world political affiliation) is a woke nightmare, but an entire episode attacking right-wing demagogues and anti-abortion people and crappy election systems and depicting a fascist coup as a bad thing is harmless entertainment?

Well, of course. One's just people shoving their woke agenda down our throats and the other couldn't possibly happen in real life.

I can't believe the "anti-woke" crowd don't get that The Orville hates them and only covers it with the very thinnest veneer of sci-fi allegory

It took three seasons for right-wing fans of The Boys to realize that they're portrayed as the bad guy.

The ones who realized they were being mocked beforehand thought it was okay because the writers were parodying 'both sides'.
