Starting with the namesake, here, Alistair knows his father was King Maric. He knows himself as a by-blow, and the fact that he ended up in the position to inherit the throne was never expected. However, it left him in a complicated situation where he couldn't be ignored but had to be downplayed, and he came to strongly dislike his father due to that.

Altaïr saw his father die at the hands of the enemy to save another man when he was just twelve years old. He literally watched his father be executed. Not that the man was ever really close to him, thanks to the Brotherhood at the time discouraging attachments.

For him, though, this meant that when he became a father, he did his best to let his children know how much he loved them. He was there for them both, Darim and Sef, until he couldn't be. He taught them, he stayed with them, he gave them the love he never got.

Jayadeep was set to be executed by his father for not being the badass assassin his father wanted him to be and he ended up in this weird dichotomy of having cut ties and still wanting his father's approval.

Fenris doesn't remember his father and only barely remembers his mother.

Another member of the 'watched his father die' club is Haytham Kenway who watched Edward die to intruders on the night before his tenth birthday. He ended up having little esteem for his father due to not only how Edward isolated him during his childhood but how Edward was personified to him while he was being raised by the Templars.

He didn't know he'd become a father until his son was already grown, and by that point, he had no fucking clue what to do with this son. He ended up emptying the colonies of the centuries-old war so his son could start over from the ground up, and then having his son kill him. So.... A+ parenting skills, Haytham.

My dear Asaanelain was raised by loving parents. High Elves/Night Elves in Azeroth have a very low birth rate, so every child is cherished. And having a son who was so gifted in magic during the time of Queen Azshara was definitely a gift. He did his parents proud. Both of them died when the Legion came and the world shattered.

And to top it off, Miles Edgeworth absolutely idolised his father and his father loved him to the point of distraction. But Miles spent fifteen years having nightmares because he thought that he'd killed his father by throwing a gun at a man who was attacking his father in the elevator they were all trapped in.

As a child, he'd wanted to follow in his father's footsteps and become a defense attorney. Instead, he followed the footsteps of his abusive adoptive father, Manfred von Karma, and became a prosecutor. Once he learned the truth, he dedicated himself to becoming a man his father would be proud of.

Gregory Edgeworth, however, would be proud of Miles no matter what he did, as long as he did it with dedication and integrity.
