i've been thinking about Eiffel doing something Stupid with the engine room for a bit and i've narrowed it down to like, two Real ideas

using it to hotwire something, like a set of speakers to make the world's worst surround sound

or stealing/repurposing parts of it to install a little flight deck, to try and make a long-distance communications array. largely because, why not

he was left unsupervised and no-one can control doug eiffel when he gets a bad idea, in canon it is 90% of the time already in motion by the time someone finds out

shipoftheseus فك يو given how this is literally his entire professional career, how much luck would he have resourcing/repurposing parts of the engine to make a long-distance radio? he's at least capable enough to make patches and jerryrig around the parts he's removing, so theoretically it would be minimally intrusive to the engine

...and he would like. talk about what he's doing out loud to the Barge so she's not mad at him for taking things

SO TWO THINGS -

1) the barge is a weird enough mix of super-advanced unfamiliar science and super-advanced unfamiliar magic that it might be difficult for him to find enough parts in the engine room proper to do this with, but we certainly welcome the attempt

2) we have an idea potentially springboarding off of this that we're going to pull you into a pp about
