New coworker was talking about how he was getting his wife into anime, and how she'd made it through fma:b before breaking at a certain death, and that they were going through Fairy Tale currently but she didn't seem as into it
duck bastard
and that he hadn't watched SAO with her yet either
duck bastard
so I asked what kind of genres she likes outside of anime, and she said hallmark type movies, so I said that shoujo sort of stuff might appeal to her more, and suggested Skip Beat
duck bastard
because I'll always suggest Skip Beat
duck bastard
but, as always when i'm asked for recommendations on things, or what i want for a holiday, my brain forgot literally every other series i've ever watched
duck bastard
and it doesn't help that i'm eternally out of touch with the most recent series too lmao

Tiger and Bunny!
merry curesman
Well, there's a lot of good recent shoujo anime, actually! From dramatic stuff like Kageki Shoujo and Fruits Basket to many, many otoge adaptations like Meikoi and Mr. Love. Lots of decent romances, too.
duck bastard
I mean. If there's ever a time to get back into tiger and bunny, with the new season, lmao!
duck bastard
- LMAO FUCK, HOW COULD I NOT THINK OF FRUITS BASKET, SEE THIS IS WHAT I MEAN
duck bastard
the brain just cannot do SHIT on the spot lol
thaneon
Ghibli could be good too
七8九!
horimiya!

I'm biased but Kaguya-sama Love is War
papermint tiger
Yeah he needs to get out of the genres where people die and depressing shit happens
papermint tiger
Just because those series are popular doesn't mean they're for everyone
papermint tiger
I like Seven Deadly Sins
duck bastard
lmao yeah he admitted his favorites were stuff like Claymore and I was like "lmao ok so lets see what she actually likes" - although is Fairy Tale just your standard shonen kind of thing? i thought it was made by the one piece guy
zєℓ∂ιѕαѕтєя ❀
it's still very new and not completely shojo but like
zєℓ∂ιѕαѕтєя ❀
everyone should watch spy x family
duck bastard
i almost want to rec Utena but that is just. So Much. as a show. that i could not rec it in good faith to a stranger alkjdfas
joker
idk much about it but it isn't made by the one piece guy
duck bastard
ah, maybe i'm thinking of something else then 8Ta

If fanciful slice of life is her jam, I really enjoyed Aria the Animation. It's an older anime though

CLAMP
Lea
Just in general
Cookie Politics
Fairy Tale is made by the guy who dis Rave Master
i stay silly :3
if she likes hallmark holiday flicks and is kinda nerdy, then Recovery of an MMO Junkie might be up her alley.
i stay silly :3
it's a very sweet romance that is not actually about dissing MMOs
Sugar and Booze
Ya Boy Kongming is a delight
Sugar and Booze
highly recommend
Sugar and Booze
she might also like My Roommate Is A Cat, though that one is comedy and also emotionally devastating
feral ghūl fall
what about... what was that one about Jesus and Buddha being roomies?
merry curesman
Saint Young Men?
Roll Fizzlebeef
Fairy Tail is made by the Rave Master guy.
Roll Fizzlebeef
Also nobody is going to be into Fairy Tail as much as FMA.
Calliente
If they wanted to split the difference on their interests, they could go for things like sports anime, which is not depressing and has no deaths but still has high stakes within their own frameworks :|a
Calliente
I also wonder if she'd like more strange competition anime (which is...sort of a split off from sports anime, I think) like Food Wars? And whatever that wine-tasting anime is that I've heard about and completely forgotten the name of
Calliente
(I don't exactly know much about shoujo anime myself so I'm racking my brain for things she might like outside it)
Calliente
But for things like sports anime you've got things like Haikyuu!, Free!!, Yuri on Ice...Yuri on Ice might be of particular interest (assuming neither she nor the husband are homophobic) because it's both sports and romance
Calliente
My only possible shoujo rec is, of course, Sailor Moon, but that might be a hard sell to the husband
pastel ranma
This one hits hard, but for something very melancholy: Plastic Memories.
