[Anxiety] I was just reminded of a question asked during training for work. "What makes you feel anxious?"
They were asking for examples because they were talking about things like sensory overload and what could trigger one of our students to 'go into crisis' and such.
Now, I could have said crowds and spiders and heights and shit, the same thing everyone does. But with what was going on, and the reasoning for it, I went with the one that might get a bit of understanding.
Until I mentioned the bubble machine thing at work. A stupid tube of water with lights and bubbles and fish that BUZZ and it drives me insane. It goes off when I come on shift. The student I work with even turns it off when I come in!
The other staff on the course all laughed and said "Yep, it does!" And he looked even more shocked and actually said "that's weird, those things are supposed to help with sensory things."
But certain sounds get me and make me feel really on edge. YES! I hear lights too!! One of the reasons I even mentioned sound was because I could hear the projector and the lights above me!
AH! That reminds me though. My sister informed me that my manager, in his infinite wisdom, seems to think having clocks in the living rooms will make the houses more 'homely'.... Ticking clocks are the worst thing for me.
sounds.... yeah that's one for me, personally. to the point where if I hear someone humming or singing that isn't from a studio recording, it just... Does Something irrational to me and I want to claw my skin and ears off because please god no stop. same for whistling ticking clocks do the same, as do lights. the buzzing and ticking. shudders
(but strangely, if I'm singing WITH someone at like karaoke it's not a claw my skin off response, but singing or humming next to me? Nope, Do Not partly cuz misophonia I'm guessing)
For me it's just certain frequencies that hurt. Regular talking can hurt depending on the voice. Or if too many people talk at once. Tapping hurts if it's against surfaces that make a relatively high pitched sound

>.> Oh no, that sucks!
I hate clocks!
