Him throwing himself into this relationship so deeply is turning Tony into his mentor/friend/lover/emotional support/monetary benefactor, and that’s a lot of roles for Tony to uphold all the while dealing with his own delicate mental health.

The reality is that the prospect of any sort of relationship between Tony and Peter is always going to have classist overtones because no matter what THEY may think is going on, onlookers will forever see a poor kid attaching himself to a wealthy "job creator" in an attempt to advance himself

(part of the reason I really enjoyed the ending of Homecoming, since Peter basically rejects that narrative in favor of looking out for the people that people like Tony are too "important" to watch out for).

In this chapter does the title of the story make sense. Because at the end of this chapter, they come back together and start over the whole not so healthy relationship they've had from the start. When you know they shouldn't be together, they do it again anyway. It's a cycle.

No, they never drop an 'I love you.' The closest they get is when Tony calls him 'sweet thing' in 18. I deliberately did that because I didn't want to romanticize this too much.
