But that demonstrates the deeply rooted flaw with Doman culture. He immediately saw Yotsuyu was dead inside and didn't belong in such a place, but did it anyway because "she'd sell." He admits it all and yet, to them, what the man did isn't "reprehensible."

a big thematic thing for her in stormblood in particular is that

Yotsuyu held every Doman as guilty by association and... She kind of had a point. Even if what she ended up doing was horrible.

and her having this deep, deep well of anger and bitterness that could really blow up into something nasty if she didn't control it and channel it through her darkside and found some hope in some things

and like. i'm NOT going to start the zenos argument here okay. this is just what she thinks. but she was able to understand zenos on some level because she did feel a little bit alienated herself because it was always on her shoulders and she was the only one who could do it

so seeing someone who was also "the only one who could do it," even though he turned "could" into a lot of things that he did that he DEFINITELY SHOULDN'T HAVE, kinda hit her

so she absolutely accepted him but at the same time prepared to fight him

tai's whole THING in stormblood was looking at these villains and feeling the weight of their darkness and shouldering it on herself because not a lot of other people would make that attempt

and then doing what had to be done anyways

with yotsuyu tai felt the same exact hate in her eyes that she felt on the night of the bloody banquet when she thought to herself "i could kill everyone here without a thought. the syndicate. the bystanders. the braves. everybody who let this happen"

which is sort of a bitterness that she struggled with for a long time

and then seeing that but a THOUSAND times more intense in yotsuyu

once again tai took it on herself to shoulder that burden

even as she knew what had to be done and had no hesitation in doing it

afterwards i think she held like

a small, private funeral ceremony for both yotsuyu and zenos

because as despicable as they both were nobody else would mourn them

nobody else would understand them

and in tai's view as much as it's a dark knight's job to punish those who think themselves above justice, it's also their job to understand people who commit grave injustices because of darkness that was inflicted on their hearts
