I am once again begging the scientific community to watch literally any horror movie.

"workers found the well-preserved sarcophagus buried more than a metre (three feet) underground"
ʟɪɴᴀღ
i mean this is really neat but
Nox
I'm assuming the fact it was three feet under the cathedral itself is the only reason why it was so shallow.
ʟɪɴᴀღ
it's interesting that it was buried around 19th century ground work but they think it dates back to the 14th century. so either they totally missed it or they were like "nah, fam" and carried on
Hyatt
19th century renovators be like "nah, we don't need to investigate this coffin, just throw it into the foundations"
Nox
I think they just missed it, since from the sound of it it was buried under a mound of earth. rather than just sitting out in the open.
Nox
Whoever was putting the pipes together probably just figured it was just a lump of dirt and worked around it.
ʟɪɴᴀღ
yeah, that makes sense
ʟɪɴᴀღ
i still like the idea of someone discovering this, laughing, and covering it back up because n o p e
Nox
I mean, there's no way to know how many laborers found it and nope'd on out of there before the guy who ended up putting it all together.
Nox
Could have been the first guy they hired, could have been the last one in Paris who just really needed the money.
ʟɪɴᴀღ
i am curious what kind of person it took to have a burial like this. i've only heard of lead coffins in more modern times because of radioactive bodies... ._.
Nox
I'm sure they'll tell us, assuming they don't wind up consumed by some undead affront to nature in the eyes of God and man alike.

article a month from now like "archaeologist go on record saying 'there was nothing inside the sarcophagus, foolish mortal'"
