: Dadcula is wondering if he's set up Hunter to fail by giving him that staff because he feels like so much of Hunter's identity is in his staff, in his capacity to do, in his power and his prowess. As his first warden, he felt like he had to protect him and the staff was a lesser evil given the glaive he had before
but now he wonders if Hunter needed to more fully disconnect from his Golden Guard self, from his capable fighter self, from the responsibility of having power. At the same time he also hates the idea of leaving him without means and that just taking that from him wouldn't have been a good idea either.
He hates that Hunter associates him with Belos and he hates Belos. HATES BELOS. HATES. BELOS. Literally wants a chance to go to his world and just blow that man up. But he very much loves the boy and adores him as a student and does in fact want to claim him.

: Jacobi and it actually makes him laugh that Tim used to be awkward with him. He gets it, but also there was never any need. Both because he likes Tim and because Warren is actually a pretty damn dedicated employee of the Admiral and generally trusts his calls.

The more distant part of his heart sees why she's here and that she has a lot of trouble that needs to be dealt with, ideas that are dangerous and will lead her to ruin. He's glad that Rags has her, because he trusts Rags to help her through it gently. Because he does believe gently is the way to help someone with these things
Jon sees Taylor as the little sister he never had and doesn't even know how to deal with because what even is family. He worries about her and he worries that she's doing everything and anything she can to avoid working on her progress here and it worries him because he has the TMA luck fear of 'she's going to just disappear'

Warren, on the other hand, thinks she might have to peel away some of her jaded to learn some things and deal with the concept that being capable does not mean you are wise or infallable. That needing to be better than that doesn't mean you ARE, as much as that sucks. He thinks she might be more emotional than she wants to admit she is and that that
that is clouding her judgment and her ability to be reflective properly because she keeps making excuses for herself. But so much of his being that hard on her is that he thinks she's smart, capable, and great. He really enjoys her sense of humor and her sense of duty. It's why he feels a lot of empathy for her because he had to grow up quick too.

: HE DOESNT KNOW WHAT TO DO. Because he thinks he's in a good place and he has lots of plans and he's trying GOD IS HE TRYING especially with trying to mend issues that are much older than just the last couple of years but he has no idea what to do about the fact that he attacked his son.
He doesn't even know how to begin to heal from that, or heal Adrian from that, and he is WORRIED About his boy because he sees the kind of melancholy that he's prone to in him and he's not sure how to help.

: Jon likes Gonou! Gonou has just the right amount of going along with and just a hint of teasing nonsense that he enjoys the banter back and forth. Definite friend material! He's very curious about learning more about him though he's trying not to be too nosy; he tends to keep things very mild with inmates since he knows he can put them
on edge. He appreciates that Gonou seems to be good for Daniel and that Daniel has a friend in him so far and he definitely, even with the murder that happened, inmate he feels like he can deal with generally.

: Ooo, Warren feels like Gonou has a lot going on, a placid lake with a lot of wreckage under the water that you could jack yourself up on if you jump in. He likes Gonou and he gets the feeling that when or if he gets deeper with him, he'll like him more. He has the feel of 'his people' in his head, capable people who've had horrible shit

: Xie Lian is so chill. Except he doesn't think Xie Lian is all that chill. He kind of has to give him credit for just being like, ELEGANT and poised or at least having a very welcoming feel. That's just not his vibe but he can admire him for it. He thinks he's very thoughtful and considerate
but unlike a lot of people with that kind of vibe, he feels like Xie Lian is very practical and thinks about real people and sees real costs and doesn't let things just be intellectual and he likes him a lot for it.

: Kiryu thought Trixie was very nice and he very much enjoyed her massages. As soon as he got a read on what her job was, she immediately became One Of His People but there wasn't really anything romantic there. He missed her when she disappeared and tried not to focus on it because he does that.
but when she came back, he was just so happy. And he wasn't even really thinking of a relationship because it's not his default thought and a little part of his brain thought Pagan was the last relationship for a while. And then Rags started teasing him and yeah, she's very pretty and yeah he likes his hands on her and yeah, she's one of his
and then Flotilla happened and he was BACK into a world like his own in every way that matters and it was just... it happened and it literally kind of happened while they were having sex the first time, that he realized how IMPORTANT it was for him to make her happy and feel good and how his chest felt when they were together
but he didn't, and doesn't, want to stop her from being her, from doing what she wants and who she wants and working the job she feels is hers. And then his heart got more and more involved and he couldn't not tell her because there's so many times in the past when he didn't and he's trying not to hurt people the same way again.

: Warren adores her and thinks she's perfect, amazing, fantastic... and there's a little part of him that can't imagine losing her when she graduates and wants to invite her with him. He wants to perform with her and he wants to talk to her and he wants to help her blow up underwater castles and show her wonderful things and support her innovation
He 100% doesn't think her being here has anything to do with her morality and everything to do with her lack of hope, with how she can't see her connection to the world or to others, can't see a future or even want one because it seems like it's just pain and he doesn't fault her. He just thinks she needs to heal and wants to give her the chance.

: JON CARES ABOUT ELIAS. He knows he shouldn't. Some part of him feels like he should be angry Elias is here but another part of him is glad he's here because it 1. means he died so ha and 2. feels like hope for some of the other people he wished could find a way out (Daisy) because if Elias can be redeemed... etc.
And he'd like to say that that's all he feels and that's all his feelings are about but he has a lot of weird abusive parent vibe issues with Elias as someone who he associated very strongly with safety and help and someone who Saw Him As Being Worth A Chance even though he didn't have the degree, etc. And while he knows, front brain, that that was bullshit
emotions don't work like that, and Jon has a STRONG STRONG craving to be Seen and Wanted and even if he knows, KNOWS, that it's unhealthy. (And he's just starting to deal with his desire to be Seen and how that plays into his avatar-ness in general) and both part of that and separate from that is a kinship with Elias
one that he doesn't always know what to do with and the more he thinks he's coming to understand Elias, the more very invested in his journey. There are parts of him that always liked Elias! Like, looked up to him etc. and he's ruthlessly intent on giving him the same benefit of the doubt that he gives other inmates.
it's just this big jumble of caring and knowing and knowing it's a bad idea but not being able to quite help himself from feeling it and there is still SO MUCH ANGER AND HURT... but he also knows that it won't come to anything and he's tired of people hurting others because they're hurt and he wants to convince Elias that they're in the same boat

: Makima very much is an experiment and that sounds super clinical but it's like... the absolute opposite of that. She's trying to do things in a way where she's open and honest and because they're not devils and he's not human, she's trying to get the kind of relationship she's always wanted.
but that kind of relationship is all about just affection and warmth and not based on needing power or needing anything or making deals and just... good and nice.
That's really interesting because she's terrifying as well, but it's more in the 'I know I should be afraid and avoid all the things, but maybe she isn't so bad because she's pretty cool with just talking shit out and SHE ALSO LOVES DOGS'

The emptiness inside and his just... inability to deal with his life and everything that happened to him. He’s a dick... but he’s also a victim. He used to find him frustrating but now he’s just like ‘you have no idea what the fuck to do because this place just keeps poking at your bullshit’ and that’s just.. less frustrating and more sad.

: Kiryu sees a lot of himself in Shen Wei. And that makes him WORRY so hard. He occasionally wants to shake him but he cares about him a lot and he’s actually really glad both that Shen Wei has his brother here and that said brother got to graduate to be there for him
There’s a part of him that knows that if he was from a couple of years before he might have been in the kind of spot to get demoted himself. Y5 was a rough time. But he doesn’t look down on him for it or for his actions. He sees it as a sign that Shen Wei needs time and space to heal and work on himself with no excuses.

Kepler is in a weird place with Trevor. He’s talked with Lark and with Zack about him and he thinks they’re both biased in their own ways about him so he’s holding off judgment and trying to get to know him better. He is seriously concerned about him, thinks he’s probably jaded into nigh oblivion to a dangerous level and knows from experience
that people who want to do the right thing who are tired enough or angry enough or wounded enough or fed up enough can see what they want to see. He likes him but he’s still in study mode and will be talking to Sypha and Adrian.
Dracula wants to shake Trevor. Regularly. Mostly because if he wanted to avoid him or attack him or something, fine. But they like one another clearly and he likes the man but then there’s these moments of ‘well because you’re Dracula!!” And he’s like ‘I was Dracula five minutes ago”

She is definitely heading towards that ‘be an asshole until you hate me’ state because she can’t believe someone loves her because it’s terrifying. Love without her being in total control is scary.

: Kiryu loves Norton. Kiryu considers Norton his best friend on board. He absolutely means everything he says to Norton and would get himself demoted if it meant doing right by him. He also thinks Norton is strangling himself with his own pain, unaware of the privilege he does have, and is full of a lot of shit.
He doesn’t think he’s a coward because he’s not. But he does think he makes up a lot of excuses instead of facing the truth of himself and has mistaken lampshading for owning up to his own shit.
That he’s brave and clever and fabulous and fun and all of that gets drowned out by the bitterness so deep and hot it makes his ruthlessness as likely to destroy his dreams as accomplish them and he wants to help him so bad. Sooo bad.
He genuinely enjoys his company and he looks forward to the day when he gets to have that time with him when Norton’s heart is clearer. He thinks that would be great.

: he’s so nice and soft and warm and she likes to be curled up against him. She hasn’t learned much more about him than the obvious because she’s using him but she’s fond of him all the time. He’s kind of a pet. But she cares about his happiness and well being. She’d defend him if he was attacked.
Sand has yet to see him on the back end of three days without sleep because he's tracking down a gun shipment or something else. But he's mostly used to grumpy, at least.

: Zack is his boy! He isn’t sure Lark knows just how much Zack. Is. His. He doesn’t even know if Iris knows. That’s his kid. He doesn’t know how to have a kid, he never intended it, but literally none of that matters. He loves that kid and will support him and give him well deserved praise and backup and do his best with him.
Archer, he feels for you, bro. A lot of things aggravate him. He gets that. He also gets feeling like you have to be functional when it’s the last thing you’re in the mood to be. As said before, Archer is second brain space but he trusts him a lot based on those feelings even if he isn’t sure how to go any further or deeper.
Warren is best dad ;-; and Archer also feels the second brain space kinship. It’s gonna take a bit more time but even letting Warren in his space when he was Down was a sign of Much Trust so…they’ll get there
Kiryu is so good. Norton is terrified that Kiryu is going to hate him and reject him by the time this is all through (and that Norton himself might do something to deserve it).
