The last time I got this heated it was some Bo-Katan apologist claiming that she was a teenager under the age of 18 when she joined Death Watch and "clearly couldn't consent" to committing acts of terrorism.

This time it's the great debate about Anakin and Padme's relationship.

This time I just went full devil's advocate on the people who wanted to idealize their relationship as some sort of fairy tale instead of seeing it as the deconstruction of "forbidden romance" tropes that it is.

See, this is why I avoid SW fandom altogether.

Never get into debates in Youtube comments. Especially about SW

Including my favorite take, someone telling me they clearly had a stable relationship because they were married "for like ten years or something."

To which I just had to contrarily point out it was THREE years and all in the middle of a war, which involved them spending very small amounts of time together while they were off fighting in it and being involved in politics, so of COURSE their relationship got strained keeping it a secret.

PSH, this is what happens when I comment on SW videos and people start responding to me with stupid-ass comments. I can't help but respond purely to tell them "YOU ARE WRONG AND HERE IS WHY!!!"

This is why I mostly stick to my own little bubble here on Plurk but I get a notif every time someone responds to my comments on YT.

The best one was someone who asked "What deaths did he cause?" when I pointed out many people Anakin killed when he became Darth Vader. My brain felt like it was oozing out of my head.

"What deaths did Anakin cause?" ....The younglings..Did we forget about those?

SERIOUSLY. I charitably told them "I assume you're canonblind" and went on to give them a full paragraph.
