We have a "can't leave your door" lockdown starting tomorrow for half of Shanghai. The panic buying is real.

Supermarkets are all sold out or just closed already. Delivery drivers are swamped that I am requesting deliveries for 2am at a premium rate just to get things like water lol

We've got some instant noodles, I bought some baguettes, cheese, olives from a deli. Then I got a mountain of dried fruit and nuts. Phil's contribution was intensive layers of pizza. He did his best lmao

The lockdown is for 5 days and I'm squinting and counting it all if rationing is needed

We're waking up early tomorrow to do any last minute scrounging as lockdown starts at 3pm

But YOU GUYS

None of this should even be a thing I am so mad

This is just so poorly organized and executed

We had a suspicion that we'd have lockdown this weekend, but it was a guess. So our attempts to prepare were half-hearted. It's just infuriating that this could have been warned long in advance and they just didn't

There are "volunteers" to bring you deliveries, take out trash, walk dogs, etc

But I don't even know where to start with that. Because it sounds so chaotic like Who is even these mythical volunteers

And how do you contact one

I think our apartment's Ayi will handle trash and maybe the guards will be present to help with deliveries but dog walkers? Hmn

It's gonna be really stressful for households with dogs, I can't imagine. Thank goodness we just have 2 cats
