I was super bummed Gerwig didn't win, she did such an amazing job. She's young though, so hopefully in the future.

True idk also ladybird is also very much a personal movie for me as well beyond the connection

I also think Gerwig should have won for Ladybird, but I do hope she directs again. That documentary on women directors and women in Hollywood on Netflix was so depressing tho about how hard it is to get work as a woman as a director, even (and maybe especially) after a success

I like Campion for the win, Power of the Dog was amazing. Everything she brought together in that film was just superb.

To be fair, I only had seen PotD out of the list of best dir films, so I can't judge fairly but it's super nice to see a woman win
