Our party had just completed a nasty dungeon section, and my Rogue/Monk came upon a series of chests. They were sealed with masterwork locks, and bolstered by Arcane Lock on each of them, to make them virtually un-pickable.
I, however, turned to the GM, and asked... "I have a +5 to Dexterity. With Proficiency and Expertise in lock picks, that brings my base ability modifier to +15, and I'm wearing Gloves of Thievery for an extra +5. Since Reliable Talent means I can't roll lower than a 10 on this check, my minimum ends up at thirty.
Merrin Brightstone wasn't terribly efficient in a fight, but she was a BEAST at skill checks.
