NSWFLOODS + QLDFLOODS | G'day, it's been raining for a handful of weeks in Australia, particularly in NSW and QLD, and we're experiencing the worst floods right now. Resources and places to get info linked ITP.

Getting some deja vu? So are we! Australia had horrible floods last year (2021) and now we're wrestling with even worse floods this year.

As per usual, please do not hold political discussions in this Plurk. You all have your own avenues for this, and I don't have the energy to moderate.

Please feel free to share any resources that you know of. I personally have found a lot of this is being shared on Twitter via people who are directly impacted.

Please note that I am from NSW, so a lot of the links I'm sharing are NSW-related as this is the information I'm able to vet. If you're from QLD and would like to share info, including Twitter hashtags that impacted community members are posting in, please do!

Follow NSW SES on Twitter and Facebook as they are the lead in the NSW emergency response.

• The Guardian has posted photographs across Sydney last night and shared more photographs and videos shared on social media by community members this morning at 3am.

• Hashtags where I have found community members are sharing their photos/footage, requesting help, and journos are using to share what they're seeing: #nswfloods, #lismorefloods, #SydneyStorm.

• WWF AUSTRALIA - Helping wildlife affected in southeast QLD and northern NSW. I imagine they'll also be helping out in western Sydney. They are accepting donations.

• WIRES Rescue has been managing calls from the community and trying to rescue trapped animals and people. They are accepting donations.

• Sikh Volunteers Australia have been travelling to badly impacted areas and serving the residents warm food in NSW. They do accept donations. Their feed has a lot more photos. These guys are amazing.

• The Guardian posted a list of charities for both NSW and QLD, including Foodbank, SES (who have been answering thousands upon thousands of calls for help), GIVIT, and Koori Mail's GoFundMe (this is the first time this publication has shut down in 30 years because their offices got smashed with floodwater).

• There are many, many GoFundMe's for people who have lost everything, but as I can't verify if the page is a hoax or not, so I won't be linking them.
