🐅 its harry an inquiry: what was the process that you went through to immigrate to Canada as a freelancer?

like, I know my own experiences with already having temporary work permits at a specific job, but I was wondering what you went through specifically for self-employment to immigrate?

oh! the specific requirements were that id been doing my Freelance Art Job for 2 years and could prove i could support myself doing it

id been living in canada for a bit already which definitely helped... i came there originally on the umm. god i cant remember what it's called any more. an international programme that lets you live in one of any of the other participating countries for a year

for people under 30

youre supposed to be able to do that twice so for a total of 2 years but some bureaucracy stuff with them changing the system over meant id been there for 3 years lol

with some gaps ig. anyway like. i went through a lawyer and i had to give them a bunch of money about it but they were very nice and i probably would have beefed it really badly if i hadn't had like. someone specifically telling me what documentation i needed to provide and submitting it all for me

and yeah, I got a lawyer too...was real expensive, but honestly worth it because there's so much involved IDK if I would've gotten everything

and yeah.. i think it probably helped a fair bit wrt like. i already live here so i've proved pretty adequately that i can Support Myself In Canada lmao
