Frozen Time
Did some P3S prog last night, couldn't get past adds phase, here's my impressions thus far
Frozen Time
Phoinix: Hello, naughty children, do you like T A N K B U S T E R S
Frozen Time
Not a fan of the dark fire mechanic because it's hard to switch targets efficiently for it
Frozen Time
the snapshotting on this fight is so dire, given our static's historical problems with snapshotting I have serious doubts that we'll be able to get past this fight
skarme
the snapshotting on everything in p3 is annoyingly early for real... even weekly reclears in pf tend to be a clown show thanks to the number of spread mechanics it has and how early they go off compared to the animation
skarme
add phase is the big prog wall of the fight for a lot of groups so gj getting to it at least!
skarme
i don't know about dnc in particular but if you're able to aoe in a way that hits the add next to you without having to untarget the boss and don't fail the dps check doing so then that's probably worthwhile, since you're not optimising or anything
skarme
for example on brd when i'm able to damage the add to my left i take a step to the side and apex+ladonsbite, which should kill that add and help the one on the opposite side if it's still alive
skarme
tech step should not be up at that point but standard would hit both adds next to you without moving from your number spot and i think regular aoe combo/procs and fan dance 2 should hit both as well
Frozen Time
I don't usually have snapshotting problems because I always abuse my ranged dps privileges to preposition/get way the fuck away/etc but the timing/positioning for, like, the experimental fireplumes is so precise that I can't do it and I have often disagreed with Phoinix over whether or not it hit me with something.
Frozen Time
Yeah I checked a DNC-specific guide and it says if Standard Step is kept on strict cooldown it should be coming back up just in time for those adds, so I just need to adjust my opening burst to actually use Standard Step when it comes back up.
skarme
i think it's probably more about gradually figuring out how to adjust your dodge timing, you have several seconds to move when it's fat gloryplume and slightly longer when it's puddles
Frozen Time
(Normal strat right now for Tech Step burst is to only use Standard Step if you don't have other resources up since it's a technical DPS loss compared to two GCD's and a fan dance)
skarme
if everyone was stacked tightly you can safely fuck off out of mid as soon as the fat gloryplume appears (and should move sooner rather than later, it's a good habit for the last one in the fight)
skarme
for shiva gloryplume i wait until the moment 2nd puddle falls and walk into that one, it's slower and small enough that you can even slidecast it on caster
Frozen Time
Yeah I wasn't having a problem with the big one since that's always a straight run north, it's more adjusting on the fly to where the little ones decide to pop up this time
skarme
yeah that's why i like to wait until the 2nd puddle to move, it's a little breathing room to process where the 1st one dropped and go accordingly
skarme
since they always drop in pairs you can get away with focusing on only the nw and ne intercards for all of them, except the guaranteed shiva one after adds
